چکیده

As devices become ever smaller and more efficient, the crystallochemically controlled synthesis of high-performance materials that comprise their core has attracted enormous attention. Integration complex functional into next generation electronic will require exquisite control anisotropic form, either as nanotubes, nanotapes, or nanowires, yet easy preparation abundant quantities them remains stubbornly challenging. Herein, a template-free, flux-mediated growth vast three compositions phase-pure, high-temperature superconductor including for first time, nanowires technologically important quinternary Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x (B2212) is demonstrated. The results this work may provide an opportunity to investigate physics chemistry highly enable incorporation nanoelectronics energy systems.

Epitaxy of semiconductor-superconductor nanowires.

Controlling the properties of semiconductor/metal interfaces is a powerful method for designing functionality and improving the performance of electrical devices. Recently semiconductor/superconductor hybrids have appeared as an important example where the atomic scale uniformity of the interface plays a key role in determining the quality of the induced superconducting gap. Here we present epi...

Hard gap in epitaxial semiconductor-superconductor nanowires.

Many present and future applications of superconductivity would benefit from electrostatic control of carrier density and tunnelling rates, the hallmark of semiconductor devices. One particularly exciting application is the realization of topological superconductivity as a basis for quantum information processing. Proposals in this direction based on the proximity effect in semiconductor nanowi...

Superconductor-insulator transition in long MoGe nanowires.

The properties of one-dimensional superconducting wires depend on physical processes with different characteristic lengths. To identify the process dominant in the critical regime we have studied the transport properties of very narrow (9-20 nm) MoGe wires fabricated by advanced electron-beam lithography in a wide range of lengths, 1-25  μm. We observed that the wires undergo a superconductor-i...

Inherent stochasticity of superconductor-resistor switching behavior in nanowires.

We study the stochastic dynamics of superconductive-resistive switching in hysteretic current-biased superconducting nanowires undergoing phase-slip fluctuations. We evaluate the mean switching time using the master-equation formalism, and hence obtain the distribution of switching currents. We find that as the temperature is reduced this distribution initially broadens; only at lower temperatu...

Theory of the pairbreaking superconductor-metal transition in nanowires

We present a detailed description of a zero temperature phase transition between superconducting and diffusive metallic states in very thin wires due to a Cooper pair breaking mechanism. The dissipative critical theory contains current reducing fluctuations in the guise of both quantum and thermally activated phase slips. A full cross-over phase diagram is computed via an expansion in the inver...
